01 · Background

The unconventional climb

Bombito grew up in Montréal and did not pass through a major professional academy. His route included CS Saint-Hubert, junior college at Iowa Western, the University of New Hampshire and lower-league summer soccer before Colorado drafted him in 2022. Coaches moved him from midfield into central defence, where his physical tools suddenly had a clearer platform. An MLS All-Star selection and a strong 2024 Copa América led to OGC Nice.

02 · How he plays

Centre-back size, recovery-run speed

Nice list him at 1.90 metres and built their introduction around an unusual combination: strength and exceptional speed. That pace allows him to defend a high line and recover when a pass breaks the first press. He is aggressive stepping into duels, carries the ball when space opens and has the athletic range to defend wide channels. Ligue 1’s own profile also highlighted his ability on the ball.
