01 · Background
A two-sport childhood and a well-travelled career
Leon was born in Mississauga, grew up in Maple and King City and played both soccer and hockey. She started with Vaughan SC at four, won an NCAA title with Notre Dame and made her Canada senior debut in 2013. Her professional career has crossed the NWSL and Women’s Super League, with stops including Boston, Chicago, Seattle, West Ham, Manchester United and Aston Villa before San Diego Wave signed her in 2025.
02 · How she plays
Direct running and an early eye for goal
Canada Soccer’s technical description from her youth career remains recognisable: mobile, strong, quick, able to dribble, pass and finish. Leon likes to attack the back post, drive at a retreating defender and shoot when a small window opens. San Diego highlighted her technical quality, creativity and work rate. She can start wide but often finishes a move inside the penalty area.
03 · Canada role
Experience with attacking intent
Leon gives Canada a veteran forward who is comfortable entering a match cold and immediately looking for the decisive action. She can stretch the line, hunt second balls and provide a direct route to goal when patient possession is not enough. Her international scoring record reflects that willingness to arrive and finish.
