01 · Background
A familiar path from Brampton to Europe
Lawrence was born in Toronto and grew up in the Greater Toronto Area, including Brampton and Caledon East. She played youth soccer with Brams United and Erin Mills, became part of Canada’s programme at 14 and later attended West Virginia University alongside Kadeisha Buchanan. She turned professional with Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, spent six seasons in France, won domestic honours with Chelsea and returned to France with OL Lyonnes in 2025.
02 · How she plays
Two flanks, one attacking mindset
Lawrence can play at right-back or left-back without losing her core strengths. OL Lyonnes highlight her athletic profile and comfort on either side; Canada Soccer and Chelsea have emphasised her progressive play into the final third. She carries the ball at speed, overlaps to create an extra attacker and has the recovery ability to get back after the move. Her balance and first touch also let her escape pressure near the touchline.
03 · Canada role
Width without losing control
For Canada, Lawrence can provide the width herself or combine underneath a winger. Her experience on both sides makes in-game changes easier, and her long partnership with Buchanan gives the defence a layer of understanding built over years of youth, college, club and international soccer.
